Shepard is known for using OBEY in order to give homage to various personalities who have helped form the pop culture as we know it today. Such as legends of the Punk scene to acts like LL Cool J, Public Enemy and so forth.Shepard is also a hip culture activist who's voicetrous and conscientious of negativity by campaigning against the different injustices of tyranny and propaganda which is why he'll also incorporate the word OBEY in an image of a dictator or other negative entities in order to mock that person and/or they're objective. Shepard uses fashion, stencils, books, magazines, art, music and vinyl collectible toys to express his creativity. Shepard Fairey will go down in History as a hip culture "GIANT".
